Ethan is 7 Months Old!

Ethan,

This has been a huge month for you! You have learned to sit by yourself, eat solid foods, and I know that you will be crawling any day now. In fact, you are all over the place even without crawling. The days of leaving the room for a minute and finding you where I left you are gone for good. You have attempted to touch a light socket, pulled on reachable dresser handles, tipped over a trash can, and gotten in the dog bowl and that was all just in the last 2-3 days! Someone help me!

You are still an amazingly happy kid. You have started to babble non stop these days. In fact I can hardly get a word in edgewise. You love getting out of the house although these days I can hardly keep you in your stroller without you trying to climb your way out of it.

I also can't keep you on the changing table. You flip around like a fish out of water, try to climb in the open dresser drawer where I have your diapers and you grab anything and everything on the dresser including your dirty diaper. Ick. So now I change you on the floor where there are less dangers to encounter.

At the beginnning of the month we were using the boppy to support you while you sat. About 2 weeks ago you were ready to forgo the boppy and now sit like a champ. We've had our first head bump (I think you've gotten a little over confident) and I'm sure there will unfortunately be many more to come.

Crawling is right around the corner. You are up on all fours all the time now. You can move each limb individually but you are still trying to figure out how to coordinate everything all together. I just know it will happen by next week.

As far as food goes you are having cereal in the morning and a fruit and veggie at each lunch and dinner. You can eat about 4oz of food at each sitting and vary on whether or not you finish your 8oz bottle which you can now hold all by yourself. So far you love apples, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, bananas, avocados, pears and carrots. You hate zucchini and green beans, but will tolerate peas. I love, love, love introducing you to new tastes. It is so much fun! You have also learned to drink water out of a sippy cup. You can't do it by yourself yet and most of it comes right back out, but you love to try. In fact, you reach for it quite frequently during meal time.

Sleep is still going well. You are still sleeping through the night and doing two 2-hour naps a day (although they vary in length). We have dropped the paci during waketime (unless we are out in public - momma isn't that brave) and are currently working on dropping it during naptimes.

Your favorite toys are your crawl and go snail, light up star stacker, V-tech sit and spin, and Alex Jr. first pops. You love to play "find the baby" with daddy in the mirror, share your toys with me and stick out your tongue. I've taught you how to dump things out and we are currently working on how to put things back in their place (although you don't seem very interested in that...go figure).

You are no longer my cuddly, little, dependent baby. You are ready to explore the world and be on the go! Can't wait to see what you do next.

Love,
Mom

  1. What IS it with the trashcan? Seriously. That's Eva's life goal. Tip the trash can when mommy's not looking. Oh how fun!
