Life Made Easier

Have you ever just had one of those days where you feel like you need direction in your life? Today has been one of those days for me. It's not that I'm at a loss of who I am or anything to that effect. I just basically feel like I need a fresh start. Maybe it's because it's January and I didn't really make resolutions this year except to let things go, or maybe it's just because I feel like I have been stuck in the same routine and need a fresh start.

I'm on a quest to make my life easier and more effective. Ironically my new issue of Real Simple also came in the mail today to help me jump start my little expedition. I feel like I've become a lazy slob since Michael's gone on nights. I spend a lot of time reading blogs and watching pointless TV and sitting in my pajamas. It's time for things to change!

I plan on going to bed earlier so I can wake up earlier and not be so rushed to work. I need to learn to clean as I cook and be more organized on what part of the meals I cook and what Michael cooks (since we make dinner in shifts now). I'm going to try to find a little bit of time to work out everyday and put an end to procrastination. I plan on being more organized with our mail as well as my cleaning schedule (hopefully I'll clean a little everyday instead of once a week). And all the while I plan on keeping my resolution of being more laid back and letting things go. Sounds like a contradiction, but basically I'm going to try to not freak out every time something doesn't go as planned.

Anyone else out there have any other ideas on how make life just a little easier? I'd love to hear them!

  1. Ooooh, you got your new Real Simple? I'm still waiting for mine. I had a similar feeling to yours last July http://bodaat.blogspot.com/2008/07/i-swear-im-not.html and got organized. Since then I've achieved a lot more although I don't keep up with the planner and "list". I'm feeling slightly blah today. I'm getting the same feeling that all we do in the evenings is sit on our laptops in front of the TV. Tonight, I am laptop'ing earlier so that I can read tonight. I'm trying! Good luck on achieving some of your goals. Write them down and cement them to your heart. You will get them accomplished!

  2. When I need to make life easier, I clean. I get rid of all the junk that I don't need, repaint my apartment, re-decorate, and zen-ify.

  3. Hey thanks for following! Love your blog.

I'm in a pretty similar place. I've decided a new phone, perhaps an iphone, will make life simpler. or is that just my shop-aholic demon talking? but seriously, iphones solve everything!

  5. I find that a lot of time can be saved by not making up resolutions that will never make it past the end of the month.

    I resolved
    to resolve
    at the new year
    never
    to resolve
    at the new year.
    glad
    that's
    resolved

  6. I am a first time visitor. I came over from small house. I found for myself that my life became simpler when I let go of pain that was in my life and let peace fill my heart. I don't worry about things, I have let a lot go and been able to make things happen for myself and I am a better wife and mother. I don't know if you have pain in your life but you should let all that go and then everything else will fall into place.
