What Happened?

As you all know I have limited my TV watching (click here for the past post). One of the few shows I try to keep up with on a weekly basis is Jon and Kate plus 8. I watch this show because I just love the kids and it's interesting to watch all the craziness that can occur when a family has 8 small children. Lately however I have been thoroughly disappointed. Last night really put it over the top when the preview for the show was Kate announcing to the kids that they were moving. They only advertised this scene at least 20 times before the show. I was sadly disappointed to see that the main part of the show was about Kate making soup and the only part they showed about them moving was the exact scene they had been advertising. Us faithful viewers have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and that is all you have to give us?!?!

It seems as though the show has simply turned into just the Jon and Kate show. This season has mostly been about their fame with the new book as well as all the shows they do on the side to promote their own show. As cool as that is for them, it's not so interesting to watch - it just turns them into every other celebrity out there. The most appealing thing about the show was that they were a normal family who just happened to have a bunch of kids. I miss the old days where they just showed mostly the kids and the poor parents frustrations of just trying to keep it all together. What happened to that show?

  1. I've only seen the show once, but it seemed like Kate was really mean to Jon. Maybe I caught her on a bad day.

  2. Tova Darling - Nope that is just how she is...the more and more I watch, the less and less I like her now. I use to just think she was OCD about somethings but now she just seems to be mean to him.

  3. I have to agree with you. I'm not much of a big fan, but I see it from time to time since the kids were adorable (the small ones), but now the show's becoming boring.

Anyway, there's an award for you at my blog!

  4. I agree with Tova - the only time I saw the show, Kate was awful to her husband and I was completely turned off by it.

Just stopped in from SITS, love your site.

  5. Its weird reading a post about a show I've never seen. I mean I like your blog and want to say something nice, but well .... erm ... nope, nothing's coming.

I still like your blog though! :)

  6. I kinda watch that show too but not religiously probably because I don't find it particularly exciting any more. Kate is a bit mean to Jon and honestly he just seems sooo apathetic to life! We'll see if the show lasts... in the mean time make sure you're watching Lipstick Jungle. LOVE IT.

  7. I am so with you on this one! I used to love the show (I still do in some way) because I was intrigued how they tackle all the craziness in and around the house with those cute little kids. I was impressed and laughing all the time. It was one of the best shows on TV.

Now, as much as I am happy for the fam, the show has become somewhat plain and boring - too much focus on how famous they've become, PR crap. So, yes, you're right, I'm disappointed with the show also.

ps. agreeing with bodaat - don't forget to watch Lipstick Jungle. I'm so happy they're bacl:)

  8. Chloie: Thanks so much!

Bodaat & Maki: Looks like I will definitely have to check out Lipstick Jungle!
