Snow Update and A Book Review: The Lovely Bones

First of all, I must update you all on this massive blizzard of snow and ice we are supposed to be having. Here is a picture as of 11:30AM CST.

Disastrous right?

Anyways, I thought I would let you all know that I made my way successfully through the grocery store yesterday without incident. They were almost out of 2% milk and eggs, but I managed to find some. We won't be starving if this does eventually turn into the winter storm that the weathermen have been talking up.

Now, onto the book review....

Go and get this book. It is simply amazing! It will keep your interest the whole time and I can't wait to see the movie.

This story is about the death and afterlife of Susie Salmon. It follows her to her heaven where she follows both her grieving family, her friends, and her killer. I have to say it was very interesting to watch her go through her own stages of grief even in her afterlife. It was something I never really thought about possibly happening.

She watches her sister grow up and do all the things she will never get the chance to experience herself. She also watches her dad try to track down her killer and her mom run from the whole situation.

I won't say anything else because I don't want to ruin it for you, but I think it is a book definitely worth reading. Check it out! I know I can't wait to read some more from Alice Sebold myself!

SNOW UPDATE!!!

I might have cursed the weathmen too soon! Look at the difference that 15 minutes made!

  2. So glad you were able to get what you needed at the store. Your blog wouldn't be as interesting if you were writing about being starved!

The Lovely Bones - amazing book! I read it a few months ago and just saw the movie. Of course movies are never as good as the book, but they did a pretty good job. It's worth seeing :)

  5. I started reading The Lovely Bones a couple of years ago, but I had to stop reading it because I lost someone I was close to and I couldn't bear reading about another senseless loss. I have been debating picking it back up again, and after reading your review I just might do that. :)

I hope y'all stay nice and warm this weekend. The snow looks beautiful.
