I'm All Hung Up

I have a confession...

I have a thing about hangers.

My husband has learned (the hard way I might add) that it's better to do things my way when it comes to hangers.

You wanna know why?

Because if you don't do it right......I will go nuts.

***Nuts = there will be several very long conversations about the situation and believe me...you don't want to hear my hanger spiel.***

End of story.

Hanger Rules

Broken hangers should be thrown away immediately.

Under no circumstance should pants be hung on plastic hangers, only sturdy wooden ones please!

All hangers must match. As of now we have all white plastic hangers with the exception of the pants hangers which are now all wooden. Hopefully all hangers will be wooden one day.

Never, should there ever, be a lack of hangers in this house.

Don't ever throw away the hangers with the clippies on them...you never know when you might need one for a skirt and for some reason those are hard to come by.

Empty hangers all go in one location in the closet. You remove a shirt, you place the hanger at the other end of the closet in the empty hanger section. Don't make me flip through every piece of clothing to find them!

And finally...

Hangers without the little dips for the strappy shirts should be illegal. There is nothing worse than a hanger that can't keep it's clothing in place.

Yikes.

Now that you know my little secret...What are you all hung up on???

  1. Oh. My. Word.

I think we are long lost soul mates. These should be the Official Hanger Rules of the World. My husband and I had to go to separate closets due to him not paying attention to the rules. Now my closet is pretty and organized and matchy- matchy and his is a mess. And those skirt hangers are INVALUABLE!!

  2. Ha ha now I know why you were wanting more wooden hangers! I know pants must go on them. I am about to purchase some more wooden ones but with the clips on them b/c I've found that the husband's shorts can't be folded in a dresser without looking a mess. I so need a bigger closet so I can organize more...I did just move all my old work clothes...color coordinated of course to the back of the closet. I probably just need to put those in a space bag :)

  3. Haha I love this! I should make my husband read this so he doesn't think I'm too over the top.... I like all of my hangers to be the same, facing the same way, and excess empty hangers out of the way! Thankfully we have separate closets so I don't have to push all my OCD-ness onto his clothes!

  4. That's too funny. I'm the same way about empty hangers being in one spot, but only in Ethan's closet, for some reason. Probably because I have WAY more clothing in my TINY closet, and I just don't have the energy to pretend anything's organized in that small thing. Ethan's is a lot easier to keep organized.

This post made me laugh. :)

  5. LOL This totally cracked me up because I'm the SAME way. I'm not so much a stickler that the hangers match, but the wire ones drive me insane. And I HATE the ones that don't hold clothes like they are supposed to. Now if I could only get my husband on board with the idea of putting the empty hangers in one place.

  7. Doh! Sounds like me! Although mine do not all match. I do move the empty hanger to a different place. It's so much easier that way to take them to the laundry when it comes time to hang up! All pants are on wooden...my husband's uniform comes home on wire hangers...DONT GET ME STARTED ON THAT! On top of that, they are rubber-banded together so there are empty hangers banded together in HIS closet. GGGGGRRRRRR..... :)

  8. Hahahaha...I so needed this! I don't think I'd laughed all day. I feel much better now! :o) While I don't share your same affinity for hangers, I do require the closets to follow a certain pattern. God forbid a short sleeve short end up among the long sleeve ones! :o)

My family also understands that it is much better to just comply with my strange requests rather than sit through multiple conversations (sometimes possibly involving tears) about it. We all know I'm going to end up getting what I want in the end anyways! ;o)

  10. Oh yeah. I am so the same way. White plastic, with the lil' strap hook things. They all have to be the same shade of white. Everything has to face the same way. Clothes are organized by type (tshirts, button downs, etc.) and then within that by color. I am insane.
